Dear West Ham, Dyche and Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest won’t be selling Brennan Johnson – Opinion.

Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson is being linked with clubs left, right and centre. That doesn’t come as much of a surprise with the 22-year-old viewed as one of the brightest young talents in England.

Johnson scored 10 times in all competitions during the 2022/23 campaign. Ultimately, his goals contributed to Forest picking up nine points and without those, they would have been relegated.

Last season, the academy graduate played 44 times for the Reds. It was the third season in succession where he’s made over 40 appearances and he’s now considered one of Forest’s top players.

This week alone, three clubs have been linked with a move for Johnson. Everton, West Ham and Aston Villa have all claimed to be interested in the player but they’re all going to be left disappointed.

Forest head coach Steve Cooper is a huge fan of Johnson; calling him ‘fantastic’ back in February. It would be a huge kick in the teeth for the head coach if he was stripped of his prized asset after working so hard to keep Forest in the Premier League.

And why would Forest do that anyway? Evangelos Marinakis has never been renowned as an owner who strips clubs of their assets and the fact that the Reds are still in the top-flight gives them leverage.

Johnson linked with clubs but the talking is tiresome for Forest fans

Dear West Ham, Sean Dyche and Aston Villa, Johnson isn’t for sale. It’s not inconceivable that Johnson leaves Forest at some point in the future, but it would be completely ridiculous for him to leave this summer.

Forest fought tooth and nail during 2022/23 to ensure they survived relegation. They achieved their goal with a game to spare and let’s not forget that Johnson is a devoted Reds supporter.

Forest speedster Johnson won’t be making flirtatious gestures with other clubs, that much is for sure. He cares deeply about the football club and he will also be aware that he’s thriving under Cooper.

Naturally, during the silly season, there will be plenty of rumours that don’t come to fruition. The Johnson ones are frankly ridiculous and he certainly won’t be going anywhere during the summer transfer window of 2023.
