“Currently pursuing”: Another unnamed Leeds United target emerges in midfield area – YEP.

Leeds United are chasing a new midfield signing this week as Daniel Farke eyes recruitments alongside Ethan Ampadu before the end of the window.

Leeds have been slow movers in the summer window thus far, unable to really get going as uncertainty reigns at Elland Road with the volume of outgoings.

A host of positions require investment from Leeds in the final two weeks of the window, but Daniel Farke’s optimism in his pre-match press conference indicates movement is coming.

Who are Leeds trying to sign?

Despite spending £7million to bring Ethan Ampadu to Elland Road from Chelsea earlier in the summer, Leeds are still in need of more options in the middle, having leaned on 17-year-old Archie Gray for his first senior minutes in the opening three games of the season, playing almost a near-maximum amount.

Meanwhile, the uncertainty around Tyler Adams’ future means that Leeds cannot lean to heavily on expecting him to play a part this season, as Bournemouth circle.

The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth has now shared that Leeds are on the hunt for a new midfield signing, with a target being pursued as we speak:

“Adams moved to Leeds from RB Leipzig last summer in a £20m move and proved to be a Premier League operator in the middle of the park, despite the Whites’ struggles under Jesse Marsch and his subsequent replacements.

“His retention would give Farke’s midfield real depth, along with Ethan Ampadu, Archie Gray, Darko Gyabi, Jamie Shackleton and a target the club are currently pursuing in the transfer market.”

This comes alongside other reports from the YEP claiming that a bid has recently been tabled for an unnamed striker target.

The club need to be moving fast to sign the player they want in midfield, because other clubs will start to snap up desirable targets.

Gustavo Hamer has already been snapped up by Sheffield United, so there’s a prime example of not being quick enough.

I doubt that we’re going to see someone come in for a mega sum of money, but numbers and quality in midfield is needed massively here.
