Leicester City Transfer Hits Stumbling Block.

The departure of Leicester City forward Patson Daka has hit a stumbling block with Bournemouth as the two sides fail to agree the structure of a deal, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The 23-year-old has been available all summer for transfer, however the recently relegated club are hopeful of a large fee, something that Premier League side Bournemouth are unwilling to do. Andoni Iraola’s side were hoping to secure the player on a loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer but it is unlikely the Foxes would accept. Sean Dyche’s Everton were also reportedly interested but their efforts have moved on to other targets.

Daka joined Leicester City in 2021 from Red Bull Salzburg where he made 128 appearances scoring 68 goals taking home the Bundesliga Golden Boot in his final season at the club. This prompted the then Premier League side to swoop in and secure the talent for an estimated £23,000,000 fee where he signed a five year deal. Whilst with the Foxes he appeared 74 times scoring on 15 occasions but was unable to save the club from relegation. The Zambian international has also scored twelve goals in 35 appearances for his national side.

Leicester have got off to the perfect start in their return to the second tier, taking maximum points from the opening four games of the season, most recently beating Rotherham United 2-1 courtesy of a brace from Kasey McAteer. They next face League Two Tranmere Rovers in the EFL Cup second round as they look to continue their run in the competition.

A loan deal doesn’t make sense for Leicester at this moment in time, they still have the parachute payments to fall back on and could well go for an immediate return to the top flight. Therefore if he is to leave, a fee would and should be required to secure his services even with the immediate lack of game time. There are still several players attracting interest at Leicester and it remains to be seen what business will be done over the remaining days of the window.
