Kylian Mbappe has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Chelsea throughout the summer transfer window, though a stay at PSG appears more likely.

PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi has revealed that talks have been held with Kylian Mbappe and his family over his future, but refused to comment on the possibility of a new deal.

It comes as Arsenal and Chelsea have been linked with a move for the French forward throughout the summer, which has had plenty of twists and turns. It was revealed earlier in the year that the 24-year-old would not be extending his contract with the one-year option in his deal.

That meant the former AS Monaco star had less than 12-months remaining on his stay with PSG, prompting the club into drastic action. At first they setup an ultimatum of signing a new deal or leaving over the course of the window, though the days kept coming and no progress was made.

A world record bid was received from Saudi Arabia that was accepted by Les Parisiens, but turned down by Mbappe as he held out. Real Madrid seemingly dropped out of the race after their huge spend in the summer, while Jurgen Klopp ruled Liverpool out of the running.

That essentially left Arsenal and Chelsea to battle it out, though neither club has yet to make an official offer for the forward, despite links. He was shortly left out of his side’s pre-season tour of Japan as well as the opening game of the season, but things appeared to change after that.

Mbappe was reintroduced into the first-team and since then, discussions have been surrounding the possibility of signing a new contract. It was something touched upon by club president Nasser Al Khelaifi as he told RMCSport: “We have had very good discussions with Kylian.

“He’s a magnificent player, as a person and as a professional. We’ve had discussions with the rest of his family. New deal? I don’t want to talk about that. Mbappé is a PSG player,”

It remains to be seen whether that stance could change in the final hours of the summer transfer window, should a huge twist come into play. However, at this stage it seems more likely that a stay until at least January is on the cards for Mbappe, with the possibility for a free transfer or an extension at PSG the next crossroads for the following summer.
