Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly decided they will not sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg now, as they are unable to sign a replacement.

Since joining Tottenham in 2020, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been a reliable figure for both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

The midfielder has registered 149 appearances for Spurs during his time in North London (Transfermarkt). However, he is now having to make do with substitute appearances under new manager, Ange Postecoglou.

Throughout the summer, Hojbjerg was continually linked with a move to Atletico Madrid (Daily Mail). Later in the window, Premier League side Fulham emerged as a potential destination for the Danish international (Daily Mail).

The Cottagers apparently bid £30m for Hojbjerg (Football Insider), but the player rejected the move as he was keen to keep playing at the top level (Daily Mail).

Spurs want to keep Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

With the transfer deadline now passed, Premier League clubs are unable to sign new players. However, the window is still open for clubs in Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham would reject any advances from both these nations and look to keep hold of Hojbjerg.

It is said Spurs are “not willing to lose” Hojbjerg now as they are “no longer able to bring in a replacement.”

While the North London side were previously keen to “receive a transfer fee” for the player, they are now thought to have “blocked any exit” for Hojbjerg.

Apparently, Galatasaray are interested in the 28-year-old (Ajansspor). It has already been confirmed that the Turkish giants have acquired Davinson Sanchez from Spurs.

Spurs Web Opinion

Under no circumstances should we sell Hojbjerg now that our transfer window has closed. He can still be extremely useful for us, even if he has slipped down the pecking order. One injury in our midfield and we would be in big trouble if we didn’t have Hojbjerg.
