After leaving Rangers this summer, Alfredo Morelos’ career took an unexpected turn when he signed for storied Serie A team Santos.

The 27-year-old took some time to find a new club, but he is now following in the footsteps of none other than Pele as he attempts to lift his team out of the bottom-three spot.

According to The Herald, Alfredo Morelos is prepared to play despite a protracted absence and is scheduled to make his Santos debut.

Alfredo Morelos wanted by two clubs as ex-Rangers star's likely destination revealed | The Scottish SunAlfredo Moelosr will have a chance to shine in Santos.

Manager Diego Aguirre will be counting on El Bufalo to get off to a fast start and propel his team out of the relegation zone as they currently find themselves there.

The Santos manager discussed his new signing with Cruzeiro prior to the game, saying:

“Alfredo has been working out hard and is in fantastic physical shape. We’re content with him.

He will participate in the game and is on the squad.

Despite how much Alfredo Morelos has been practicing since before he joined Santos, a week of practice isn’t the best preparation to start a crucial game. This is because Yeferson Soteldo is suspended.

Even though Morelos just signed a two and a half year contract with the Brazilians, it would be surprising if he didn’t attempt to return to Europe at some point. Unfortunately, though, time is not on Morelos’ side.

The most crucial thing for him to accomplish is to start scoring goals; if he does that and Santos are still demoted, he will have no trouble finding offers; however, if he doesn’t, who knows where he will end up?

The career Alfredo Morelos seemed destined for when he was setting UEFA records is not one that involves playing in Brazil’s second division when he belongs in one of the top five leagues in Europe.
