Rodrigo de Paul of Atletico de Madrid and Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa have both congratulated Cristian Romero on Instagram after the Tottenham Hotspur player assisted Argentina in defeating Bolivia.
Only a few days prior, after Argentina defeated Ecuador to start their World Cup qualifying campaign with three points, Lionel Messi proclaimed Cristian Romeo to be “the best defender in the world.”
And on Tuesday night, the Tottenham star assisted his country in another victory and shutout, this time a 3-0 victory over Bolivia.
Even though they were without Lionel Messi yesterday, the world champions continued where they left off at the 2022 Qatar World Cup as Rodrigo de Paul and Emiliano Martinez started the game alongside Romero.
Romero added three more points after the game and posted on Instagram to share his joy at having represented his nation.
Several of his colleagues praised the no-nonsense center-back in the comments section of his post.
Romero once again shines for Argentina
Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa added, “Whoah,” to de Paul’s “How I like it that you look after me, Cristian.”
Tottenham’s primary defender is Romero.
Micky van de Ven, a summer acquisition, has excelled since joining Spurs, and youngster Destiny Udogie is also illuminating out on the left.
Romero, however, is without a doubt Ange Postecoglou’s best defender, and if they are to return to Europe, he needs to stay in shape.
It will be intriguing to see who Postecoglou goes to if either center back becomes injured, with the chance that Eric Dier, who has yet to play this season, rejoins the starting lineup.
