When Tottenham faces Sheffield United tomorrow,Brennan Johnson may end up making his debut.
Johnson was Spurs’ major deadline-day acquisition as they completed a £47 million agreement to acquire the now-ex-Nottingham Forest player.
Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham, said in today’s press conference that he is impressed with what he has seen from Johnson so far.
Brennan Johnson gets praised by Ange Postecoglou.
Before this weekend’s match against the Blades, Postecoglou was questioned by the media (via Football London) regarding Johnson.
And the new Spurs manager is thrilled with his new addition based on what he knows and has seen thus far.
Wonderful to have him in. He fits our needs well and is fairly comparable to the other men we hired in that he is young yet has already gained some valuable experience. His football skills complement what we aim to accomplish very well, according to Postecoglou.
“He’s a wide player but can score goals. He’s got energy, pace, and presses incredibly effectively. From that angle, he fulfills all the requirements. He’s been at [Nottingham] Forest since he was a youngster, according to his career. He has chosen to leave and challenge that football team even if it is his club.
He has participated in a few sessions with the guys. The way the group has welcomed in all the new players has been extremely admirable. I believe that he feels at ease, and we eagerly await his participation.
It’s now or never
Brennan Johnson will be most excited to play against Sheffield United if there is one match he will look forward to.
The forward is eager to participate and play tomorrow because of his excellent record versus the Blades from previous season.
Johnson’s early training sessions have obviously caught Postecoglou’s attention, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see him put into the action right away.
