Twofold Luis Sinisterra insight is great news for Leeds United after controversial transfer exit – View
If Bournemouth exercises Luis Sinisterra’s option to buy in the summer of 2019—which would happen if the Whites don’t get promoted—Leeds United might profit from the transaction.
After the drama of deadline day last week, when Luis Sinisterra forced his way to Bournemouth, Leeds’ transfer business can now take a much-needed back seat.
He departed for the South Coast on a season-long loan to the Premier League in the eleventh hour of deadline day, needing a deal sheet to complete the move.
However, the YEP’s Graham Smyth reveals that the Colombian could end up with the Cherries long-term, if Leeds don’t get promoted this season, as he spoke on the Inside Elland Road podcast:
“They’ve protected themselves a little bit in the Sinisterra deal in so far as there is an option to buy but only if Leeds remain a Championship club going into next season.
“And they’ll get a fee in excess of what they paid for him. So they paid something like £21million, it’ll be a fee in excess of that, if they don’t go up, coming their way next summer, if of course Bournemouth activate that and want to take him.”
Here, we look at two reasons why this loan for Sinisterra has turned out to be great business from the club…
We have a great replacement
Given the circumstances of how the transfer happened, it’s easy to see why Jaidon Anthony’s arrival at Leeds flew well under the radar.
However, having started three of Bournemouth’s four games this season before he left, he was highly rated by manager Andoni Iraola, and has been a constant presence in their side during some very successful seasons lately.
He was virtually ever-present in their promotion-winning season, scoring eight and assisting six to help the Cherries to automatic promotion.
The club may have wanted a different signing if there was more time to explore the field of available players, but Anthony is a brilliant way to come away from this late exit.
