After Saturday’s thrilling victory over Sheffield United, Son Heung-min gave an explanation of why he shoved Richarlison forward in front of the euphoric Tottenham supporters.

Since moviurs in a £60 million transfer from Everton more than a year agong to Sp, the Brazilian has struggled. The 26-year-old’s rhythm of games around the World Cup last season was disrupted by a pair of injuries, and up until the weekend, he had only scored one Premier League goal for the club.

Then, last week, while serving as an international player, Richarlison was seen acting upset on the bench. Afterward, he admitted that he had been having off-field problems for the previous five months, and the Brazilian media reported that he had parted ways with a close friend and advisor who had been working with him since the start of his career. Richarlison declared that even if the problem was now resolved, he would still talk to a psychologist to get help with the transition.

Richarlison - Latest News, Transfer Rumours & Opinion - 90minHis week came to a perfect conclusion on Saturday as he came off the bench to score his 50th Premier League goal and first home goal for Tottenham. That brought the score even deep into extra time, and just two minutes later, Dejan Kulusevski received assistance from the forward to win the game in dramatic fashion and send the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium into a frenzy.

During that time and after the final whistle, Richarlison was surrounded by his teammates. Son then made it a point to push Richarlison in front of a group of happy Spurs players as they made their way up to the south stand to join in the celebrations.

“This belongs to the family. When asked about pushing his teammate forward, the 31-year-old South Korean star responded, “We always want to have fun when we play with each other. Richy undoubtedly had a difficult time and a difficult season, but I was ecstatic anyway. I think I was happier than he was.

“We need him as a team, he has really good quality but the confidence is massively different. For Richy today I just wanted to give him the big hug he deserved and he really showed his quality today.”

He added: “It’s not only me, everyone in the squad and club was very happy for him. It was tough for him and we all hoped that this game would help his confidence.

“He altered the entire game. We had been anticipating that. Everyone is probably unhappy when Richy isn’t in the starting lineup, but we all understand how crucial it is to enter the game and make a difference, just like Ivan Perisic, Brennan Johnson, Emerson Royal, and Pierre Emile Hojbjerg did. Everyone performed an excellent job. It is critical to monitor it. Everyone is incredibly delighted for Richy.
