GEORGE EVANS believes Wrexham is the perfect place to kick-start his career.

The midfielder signed a two-year contract to join the Reds from Millwall, and he made his debut on Saturday in the 1-0 League Two derby victory against Tranmere Rovers.

Evans, a graduate of Manchester City’s development academy who can also play center back, has also played for Reading and Derby in the Championship.

With only two substitute appearances in the second tier and another run-out off the bench in the Carabao Cup this season, he had little opportunities at The New Den, so the 28-year-old leaped at the chance to join Wrexham.

Evans expressed his eagerness to start and dive into the action.

“Last season was a little difficult for me in terms of playing time. When this opportunity arose, I believed it would be excellent for me. I didn’t want to decline it.

“I felt motivated to take action as soon as I learned about it.

“I am very looking forward to this project since it is wonderful to be a part of.

Naturally, I want to play football, but I think the direction the club is moving in is quite exciting.

“Once I learned about it, I found it difficult to decline.

“I believe it is a great place to start my career and get back on track,” the speaker said.

Evans, a former England youth international, has competed in the Championship since joining Reading from Manchester City in January 2016. He feels that competing at a higher level can help Wrexham.

I’m hoping I can help the club succeed,” he stated.

“I’ve spent a few years competing in the Championship; perhaps, I can demonstrate my skills and contribute some experience to the team.

“I am desperate to start playing again every week, to put on some strong performances, and to take some victories in football games.”

Evans responded, “I am comfortable on the ball and have long range passing to hopefully open the game up a little bit, so Wrexham supporters should anticipate from me.
