It has been revealed that it is a Chelsea player who has dropped in transfer value the most out of any Premier League players over the last 12 months.
Transfermarkt’s database shows that Wesley Fofana’s value has dropped by the highest amount in the last year, with it down nearly £13m since the last measurement.
Fofana has had an unfortunate time of things at Stamford Bridge since his big move came last summer towards the end of the transfer window.
He has struggled greatly with injuries pretty much as soon as he set foot in West London, with the first proper one coming just minutes after he scored his first goal for the club against AC Milan.
As he looked to enter a new era under Mauricio Pochettino, news emerged that he had suffered a serious injury to his knee early in pre-season.
Fofana drops in value
Later, it was confirmed that he had torn his ACL, and he will remain unavailable for selection for the majority of the season.
There will be frustration all around at the unluckiness of the situation, with the club paying him a large £230,000 a week contract.
Obviously with him rarely featuring, his value in the eyes of those who decide these things has gone down, with it falling a larger amount than any other top flight player.
The figure is closely rivalled by Jadon Sancho, who is completely out of the plans at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag.
There were reports over the summer that Chelsea were interested in signing the England international, although it is unlikely they will return to that deal at any point soon.
