Who did ESPN Gameday analysts pick for Miami football at Florida State?

All of the ESPN Gameday analysts, including Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nolan Smith as the celebrity guest picker picked Florida State over the Miami football team on Saturday. Florida State is a 14.5-point favorite over Miami on Saturday per the FanDuel odds. There were differing opinions on the competitiveness on Saturday.

According to ESPN reporter Pete Thamel on Gameday Florida State will have star wide receivers Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson back. Coleman missed the Florida State win at Pittsburgh last week. Wilson has been out for the last two games. The big question for the Miami football team is who will start at quarterback.

With 10 interceptions in the last four games he has started, Tyler Van Dyke has hindered the ability of Miami to win. The consensus expectation is that Van Dyke will start. Miami could turn to Jacurri Brown or Emory Williams if Van Dyke struggles. Brown can play the remainder of the reason and maintain his redshirt.

There is not a lot of faith in the Miami football team for their game at Florida State on Saturday. Miami was abysmal offensively last week in a 20-6 loss at North Carolina State. The defense was dominant at times versus the Wolfpack. North Carolina State had five yards in the third quarter. Miami will have to be stout on Saturday.

Desmond Howard: They’re struggling at the quarterback position. I think that you look at Florida State they get their receivers back…Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson.  I’m going with FSU big actually.

Pat McAfee: I think so too. Florida State not slowing down on this conversation to the College Football Playoff.

Nolan Smith: It’s been a long time since both of these two teams have been good. I’m just sitting here, I’m going with Florida State, they’re doing really well right now. Hopefully one day we can see them in the College Football Playoff.

Lee Corso: Florida State defense, this is a close one. Closer than the experts think. Miami plays well in Tallahassee.

Kirk Herbstreit: Not today. You go back to 2021 when Florida State beat Miami. It was a turning point for Jordan Travis and I think Mike Norvell…the entire era. They’re 21-4 They keep it going…their QB is special, they win big.

Corso who is a Florida State football alum seems to be the only ESPN College Gameday analyst that thinks Miami can be competitive on Saturday. Miami has won two of its last three games in Tallahassee and it arguably should be three. Miami was in control against Florida State in 2021 in the game Herbstreit referenced.

Miami needs to minimize turnovers, penalties and explosive plays, control the clock and the physicality on the line of scrimmage. The Hurricanes can make their season and potentially eliminate Florida State from the College Football Playoff with an upset on Saturday in Tallahassee.
