Everton have been urged to sign Jack Harrison from Leeds United this summer as they continue a rebuild under Sean Dyche. The recommendation comes from former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor, six months after Harrison came close to leaving Leeds in January.

The winger was poised to move to Leicester City in January but the deal fell through when Leeds changed their mind. Both clubs would go on to be relegated from the Premier League. After the switch to Leicester collapsed, Leeds agreed an extension to Harrison’s contract running until 2028. However, there have been reports of a relegation release clause in his deal, which could allow the 26-year-old to leave for a fee of around £16 million.

Everton, along with several other clubs, have shown interest in bringing Harrison back to the Premier League. West Ham and Aston Villa have also been linked with the winger. Everton are determined to add fresh impetus to Dyche’s squad this summer having flirted with relegation in the last two seasons.

While Agbonlahor believes a new striker should be top of Everton’s list as things stand, the ex-England international reckons Harrison would be the ideal addition thereafter.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider (via LeedsLive): “I really like him. Leeds were clever to make him sign a new deal and put that release clause in. The big thing for Everton is – I would go and get a striker.
