29year old Steelers linebacker credit offense for defense’s dominant performance vs. Bengals.

The Pittsburgh Steelers came away with a 16-10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 16. Both offensively and defensively, the Steelers found a way to get it done.

With just 16 points scored, it may not look like Pittsburgh did much on offense. However, Week 12 was the first time the Steelers gained 400+ yards since 2020. Alongside their work with the ball, TJ Watt said Pittsburgh’s offensive explosive helped propel the defense, via Stephen Thompson of Sports Illustrated.

“Rest. I mean, I think we took 21, 22 snaps in the first half as a defense,” Watt said. “Offense was controlling time of possession. Defense, we were able to get off the field”

“Obviously didn’t like that early drive that ended in a score but being able to smash the run helps a lot in trying to get them one-dimensional,” Watt continued. “Spent a lot of time on the bench today and that was awesome as a defense.

Steelers shine

Pittsburgh let up an 11-yard touchdown pass early in the first quarter. It wasn’t until there was just over two minutes remaining in the game when the Bengals would score again, on a 47-yard field goal. But the Steelers had already done their damage, holding onto the victory.
