Chiesa valuation
Reports suggest Federico Chiesa and Juventus are both open to a transfer this summer. The Euro 2020 winner has recovered from a long-term knee injury but has grown disillusioned with his role under Massimiliano Allegri.
Juventus’ failure to qualify for the Champions League means the Serie A giants will consider offers for a number of first-team stars, including Chiesa. The 25-year-old has two years left on his contract, and an asking price of £52 million has been placed on the versatile forward.
Italian outlet Gazzetta have produced a lengthy report outlining Chiesa’s current situation, and why a sale could be on the cards. Aston Villa and Liverpool have also been linked, but so far no club is close to matching Juventus’ valuation.
The report indicates Newcastle would be prepared to pay in the region of £43m, a similar fee to Aston Villa although still £9m shy of Juventus’ price tag. Liverpool’s valuation stands in the region of £35m, although the Reds have been named as the forward’s preferred destination in some reports.
Carrasco claim
Yannick Carrasco was among a host of names initially linked with Newcastle in the wake of their takeover. As it stands, Barcelona are not expected to take up their preferential buy option on the Belgium international, which was secured as part of the deal which saw Memphis Depay move the other way.
Diego Simeone is expecting to work with the 29-year-old in the new season, along with club and international team-mate Axel Witsel. Yet according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Newcastle could return to ‘tempt’ Carrasco once again this summer.
