Newcastle must pay £50m to sign teenager who Jose Enrique thinks can be ‘world class’.

Newcastle United like the look of plenty Southampton players this summer, but could be priced out of signing more than one.

Tino Livramento is currently the favourite to move to St James’ Park, with Newcastle previously confident about a deal for the defender.

However, that confidence has now diminished with the two clubs currently unable to agree a fee. Livramento wants to join Newcastle, but Toon officials are planning to walk away from a deal if there is no progress made this week.

Elsewhere, Newcastle are looking for another midfielder after Sandro Tonali. And one player they have been linked with is Livramento’s Southampton teammate Romeo Lavia.

However, it looks like he is another young Saint who could be out of the Magpies’ price range.

How much Southampton want for Romeo Lavia

According to TalkSPORT, Southampton want a fee of £50million to sell Lavia this summer. He is a target for Liverpool, who are looking to sign the Belgian after deals for Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

The Reds beat us to the latter, meaning a move for Lavia could serve as revenge for the Magpies. However, that is not going to happen with an asking price of £50million.

There is simply no way that Newcastle will spend that much money on the 19-year-old, who is also attracting interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.

All of the big clubs are after Lavia, which is a testament to his ability and potential. Former Toon defender Jose Enrique even thinks that he could go on to become ‘world class’.

The signs are certainly there, and he would be a good addition to Newcastle’s midfield. But £50million is simply way too much, and another example of Southampton looking to extract every penny possible out of their most saleable assets following relegation to the Championship.

They look to be pricing us out of a move for Livramento, and now the same goes for Lavia.
