Manchester United defender Alex Telles admits he does not know what his future hold after his loan at Sevilla ended.

Alex Telles faces an uncertain future after his loan stint at Sevilla came to an end.

While the Brazilian featured in every pre-season game under Erik ten Hag a year ago, he was deemed surplus to requirements and sent out on loan.

United’s failure to secure a permanent departure for Telles last year means the Brazilian’s situation is one the club must attempt to resolve this year instead.

Alex Telles open to Sevilla return

Alex Telles played a part in Sevilla winning the Europa League, starting the final against Roma. The La Liga side also managed to knock Manchester United out along the way.

Telles enjoyed his time in Seville and is open to a return, however, he admits he has had no contact from the Spanish club.

This comes amid claims of financial difficulties, per Marca, which reports they have made their entire squad available for transfer.

Telles spoke to AS and said as it stands, he is due to report for pre-season training back at Manchester United.

He explained: “I have a contract with United and one day to introduce myself, I haven’t heard from Sevilla either. Obviously a lot is said over the summer, but I’ll make it very clear: I’m resting, focused on vacation, taking care of my knee.”

Telles’ salary at United is reported to be a sticking point for Sevilla which makes a permanent deal unlikely.

Telles enjoyed his time at Sevilla and leaves the club with very positive memories, on and off the pitch. The Brazil international experienced the birth of his first child during his time in Spain.

Shut down Benfica rumours

Telles did make a point to shut down rumours speculating he could make a controversial move to Benfica, rivals of his former club Porto.

He told AS: “When you play for a club and leave a good image, a legacy… I know that everyone is professional, but I, Alex, would not play for the rival.

“I made history at Porto, everyone wants me there, so I can’t play at Benfica.”
