Portuguese Under-21 star Fabio Carvalho is all set to join the German club RB Leipzig on loan from Liverpool.
According to Fabrizio Romano, RB Leipzig are keen on having Fabio Carvalho in their ranks. The 20-year-old hasn’t had much game time at Liverpool and is expected to be on the move in the summer.
Carvalho came through the ranks at Fulham. He was promoted to their first team back in the summer of 2021. The 20-year-old had an exceptional first full season with the Cottagers in the Championship as he scored 11 goals and created another eight for his teammates in his 38 outings.
He played an integral part in their promotion to the Premier League. On the back of his impressive performances, Liverpool acquired his services. However, they couldn’t provide him with enough minutes in the 2022-23 season.
Carvalho was involved in 21 matches but was on the pitch for just over 600 minutes. The 20-year-old was not happy with the limited game time and has been on the look for a solution of late. With the player keen on having an extended run in the first team Liverpool were forced to look at potential options in the market.
Fabio Carvalho will join RB Leipzig until June 2024 — no buy option confirmed. Negotiations are being finalised as deal will be signed next week but the total agreement is confirmed. #LFC
While he is not an important first-team player at this point in time, the Portuguese sensation surely has a lot of potential. As a result, they do not want to sell him on a permanent basis.
There were a few bids to sign him on a permanent basis but the Merseyside club have rejected those. But, with the player keen on having first-team minutes, they do not have many options to work with and have decided to loan him out.
Meanwhile, German club RB Leipzig have shown their interest in his services. They are looking to bolster their squad ahead of next season and believe having a player with Carvalho’s versatility could help them.
Leipzig have been in talks with Liverpool over a potential loan move. And, according to Romano a one-year loan deal has been agreed and the contract will be signed next week. Carvalho will be joining the German club on straight forward loan move until the summer of 2024.
