Darren England return confirmed after Liverpool VAR controversy as referee for Everton game named.

Liverpool and Everton are gearing up for their highly anticipated Merseyside derby, and the referee for the match has been confirmed. Craig Pawson will be in charge of officiating the clash between the two rival teams.

Pawson’s refereeing history with Liverpool shows a positive record for the Reds. He has officiated 36 matches involving Liverpool throughout his career, with the team winning 25 of those matches and losing only six. Interestingly, Pawson has awarded four penalties to Liverpool during these encounters but has not issued a single yellow or red card to any Liverpool player.

Assisting Pawson on the sidelines will be Marc Perry and Wade Smith, while Thomas Bramall will serve as the fourth official. In the VAR room, David Coote and Stuart Burt will be responsible for reviewing any contentious decisions.

On the other hand, Everton’s record under Pawson’s officiating has been less favorable. The Toffees have lost 12 out of the 23 matches in which Pawson was the referee. In fact, Everton has suffered defeats in its last four matches with Pawson as the referee, including a 3-0 loss to Bournemouth last season and a 1-0 home defeat to Wolves in August.

In other refereeing news, Darren England, who recently found himself at the center of VAR controversy due to an ‘offside’ goal by Luis Díaz against Tottenham Hotspur, has been reinstated as a fourth official for Brentford’s match against Burnley. England was temporarily removed from officiating duties following the incorrect decision to disallow Díaz’s goal.

The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) acknowledged a “significant human error” in that incident. Additionally, Dan Cook, who served as an Assistant VAR during Liverpool’s defeat to Spurs, will return to Premier League football as a linesman for Sheffield United’s match against Manchester United.
